Accounting and Finance (PhD)

Note: this 3-year programme includes 9 months/1 year of research training

Programme Description:

We offer a full range of expertise, but the following research areas are of particular strength:

• Historical development of accounting and auditing
• Financial reporting, business communication, corporate governance and management accounting in the private and public sectors
• Social and environmental (green) accounting
• Finance 
• Accounting, auditing and finance in emerging economics, especially the Middle East, China and other Asian countries 
• Islamic banking, accounting and finance 
• Interdisciplinary perspectives on accounting

• The Accounting Section continues to build on its international reputation for research.
• A major strength of the section is the number of experienced researchers, which has enabled a wide range of specialisms to be fostered and developed.
• The accounting and finance group is one of the most prolific in UK universities based on publications per staff member, as well as quality and diversity of output.

Entry Requirements:

Suitable for graduates in accounting, business, management, economics and finance.

Applicants should preferably have a good Masters degree but those with a good Honours degree or equivalent and an interest in pursuing in-depth research in an appropriate area, will also be considered.
