The Banking and Finance degree programme offers the opportunity to study within the discipline of economics and acquire specialist knowledge of the development and function of monetary and financial systems. This programme of study provides you not only with training relevant to the practice of banking and other financial careers, but also with exemption from certain examinations of the Chartered Institute of Bankers.
In the first year of study you will take compulsory modules in micro and macroeconomics, quantitative methods and economic history, as well as three optional modules chosen from a wide range of subjects including various aspects of economics, accounting, management and law. The degree programme then diverges progressively during the second and third years when you will study compulsory modules in economic theory and financial economics with options available in the areas of economics, finance and management.

Entry Requirements
Normally grades AAB from any combination of three A level subjects excluding General Studies, Critical Thinking and Citizenship. We also require GCSE Mathematics at grade B and GCSE English Language at grade C if not offered at AS or A level.
Alternative Entry Requirements
Applications from those offering alternative/vocational/overseas qualifications (eg Access, Vocational A-level) are welcome as are those who may have combinations of qualifications or other relevant work/life experience. Each application will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

We pride ourselves on the flexibility of our programmes and you will be able to change between degree programmes offered by the Business School at the start of the course. Therefore you do not need to apply for more than one degree programme offered by Cardiff Business School. The only exceptions to this are programmes that include the study of a European language, BSc Economics (L100) and BScEcon Economics and Finance (LN13).
