Understanding the theoretical aspects of Economics allows students to engage with a number of problems and policy issues. Business Economics appeals to those who wish to specialise in the application of economic theory to business decision making, matching a good knowledge of economic principles to an awareness of their uses and limitations in a business context.
The Business Economics degree at
In the first year of study you will take modules in micro and macroeconomics, quantitative methods and economic history as well as optional modules chosen from a wide range of subjects including aspects of economics, accounting and management.
During your second and third years, you will study compulsory modules in those areas of economic theory most relevant to the study of business economics, together with a number of modules of your choice taken from a range of options available in the economics and management areas.

Entry Requirements
Normally, grades AAB from any combination of three A level subjects excluding General Studies, Critical Thinking and Citizenship. we also require GCSE Mathematics at grade B and GCSE English Language at grade C if not offered at AS or A level.
Alternative Entry Requirements
Applications from those offering alternative/vocational/overseas qualifications (eg Access, Vocational A-level) are welcome as are those who may have combinations of qualifications or other relevant work/life experience. Each application will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

We pride ourselves on the flexibility of our programmes and you will be able to change between degree programmes offered by the Business School at the start of the course. Therefore you do not need to apply for more than one degree programme offered by Cardiff Business School. The only exceptions to this are programmes that include the study of a European language, BSc Economics (L100) and BScEcon Economics and Finance (LN13).
