Law and Politics (LLB)

UCAS Code:

  • ML12 LLB/Lpol

3 years (Full-time) / n/a (Part-time) / n/a (Distance / E-Learning)

The Law and Politics LLB degree programme is designed to equip you with a knowledge of core areas of law and the legal system, as well as with an understanding of politics, in particular the politics of Europe.

The Law and Politics degree programme reflects the centrality of law in its social and political context and examines the interface between law and politics .

In Year one, you take four modules in Law and two modules relating to Politics. In Years two and three, you take between 60 and 90 credits in Law and between 30 and 60 credits in Politics. Law modules include Family Law, Sociology of Law, Medicine, Ethics and Law, Constitutionalism and Human Rights in Central Europe, and Public International Law.. The Politics half of the programme is intended to complement the content of the Law programme. For further information, see the two key subject areas.

The Cardiff Law and Politics degree meets the requirements of the governing bodies of the solicitors and barristers branches of the legal profession so that LLB graduates may obtain exemption from the academic stage of the professional examinations. Cardiff Law School also offers the Legal Practice Course and Bar Professional Training Course for students who wish to qualify as barristers or solicitors, so you will not need to go elsewhere to complete your legal education.
