Key Award Information
The Arno Tali Foundation is a non-profit organisation. According to the statutes of the foundation, its aim is to improve cultural and educational life in rural areas; provide financial support to students and pupils from families in need; initiate local projects for young people and aid Estonian teachers. The principal aim of the fund is to support and defend the rights of talented Estonian youths from underprivileged and/or large families, offering those young people opportunities and means for development.
As of this year, 660 young people have received the "Arno-Teele" scholarship. The number of applicants, however, has been several times this. The scholarship is for students who struggle to attain financial aid during a school year, as they cannot apply for bank loans (due to their parents' inability to be guarantors for financial reasons). Scholarships are awarded in a public competition, on the basis of the applications received and the amount of scholarship funding available. The decisions of the foundation's board, as well as the names of scholarship winners, are published in the press.
Funding
Financial support is provided in the forms of Master's bursary or PhD studentships. The amount of funding varies on the basis of public competition.
