The Glasgow Educational and Marshall Trust is a charitable institution which came into existence in 1936.
The sole purpose of the Trust is to govern and administer bursaries and endowments by means of a governing body consisting of 22 elected governors and not more than 4 co-opted governors.
Funding
The value of individual awards ranges between £100 and £1,000 although in exceptional cases higher awards have been made.
Awards are given towards the cost of the following: books, course fees/living expenses, study/travel abroad for people in further/higher education; and course fees, travel, books, equipment/instruments for people wishing to undertake vocational training. Mature students can also qualify for assistance with childcare costs, books, travel and fees.
Grants can be one-off or recurrent and are normally given for courses where no grant assistance is available from the Students Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS), or where such grants do not cover the total costs. No awards are given for courses run by privately owned institutions.
