PhD in Chemistry (PhD Studentship)

Two fully funded scholarships for full time PhD study in any area of Chemistry. The scholarships are supported by the College of Physical Sciences and Engineering and will be awarded on the basis of academic excellence.

Two studentships are available. One will be awarded to a UK/EU student and the other will be awarded to an International (non-EU) student.
For Home/EU students:
This studentship consists of full UK/EU tuition fees, as well as a Doctoral Stipend matching UK Research Council National Minimum (£13,863 p.a. for 2014/15, updated each year).
For International/Non-EU students:
This studentship consists of full International tuition fees, as well as a Doctoral Stipend matching UK Research Council National Minimum (£13,863 p.a. for 2014/15, updated each year).
Residency: This studentship is open to students of any nationality without further restrictions.
Academic criteria: Applicants for a studentship must have obtained, or be about to obtain, a 2.1 degree or higher in a relevant subject, or the equivalent qualification.
The successful candidate will be selected on the basis of academic excellence.

The deadline for studentship applications is 9 June 2014. You must have submitted a full application, including supporting documents, for a PhD position (using our Online Application System) prior to the 9 June 2014.

Cardiff University reserves the right to close applications early should sufficient applications be received.
All prospective PhD students will apply via the normal route. As detailed above, the deadline for receipt of studentship applications is Monday 9th June, after which time the applications will be ranked by the CHEMY research committee, which will meet on 11th June. The selection criteria will be academic excellence.
Applicants will hold an appropriate offer where possible on 9th June. For cases where this is not the case, an offer will be issued to the applicant as soon as the selection has been made. Conditional offers will be acceptable, in cases where the applicant will graduate in July 2014.
The name of the applicant will then be provided to the College, with a letter of support, by Monday 23rd June.
